Kauai Coconut Coast Luau | Luau Ka Hikina

A wonderful evening during your Kauai vacation can be had by attending Kumu (hula teacher) Leilani Rivera-Bond’s acclaimed hula performances, presented just footsteps from the beach, along Kauai’s Coconut Coast.

Growing up on the island, Kumu Leilani was immersed in her culture and performing for an elite group of Kauai’s visitors from an early age. Her father, Larry Rivera (famous songwriter), hosted a show at the iconic Coco Palms Resort and often brought her along to perform with him. Today, the renowned Kumu Leilani graces the stage with award-winning performances, featuring her children and her talented Keiki Hula students, portraying generational stories in a dazzling exhibition.

Upon arrival, pick up a drink from the bar and explore the craft vendors showcasing authentic Hawaiian artifacts and demonstrations. During this time, the Hawaiian band plays while the sun sets on the Sleeping Giant (Kong Mountain). Explore the coast on a short 3-minute walk to the beach for panoramic ocean views. Now it’s time for a delicious Hawaiian dinner buffet as the hula performances of the evening begin. Let the skilled Hawaiian practitioners take you on a journey into the Hawaiian days of old through their chanting (‘oli) and mele (song). As a culmination of this powerful event, feel the drum beats as the Polynesian fire knife dancer lights up the night sky with his ahi’lele (fire sticks).
