Niihau Scuba Boat Charter | Kauai Island Divers

Scuba dive Niihau, also known as the “Forbidden Island,” and experience exceptional visibility, dramatic underwater landscapes, and encounters with large pelagic creatures.

You can expect to explore stunning walls, arches, and caves, often alongside Hawaiian monk seals and various shark species. An experience that has been described as otherworldly.

Climb aboard our 28 ft catamaran, custom-built with a deep V-hull for navigating the Hawaiian waters, for a private or shared charter to Ni’ihau. We depart from a small boat harbor on Kauai’s west shore. This starting point is ideal, as it’s the port in closest proximity to Ni’ihau. Enjoy a 1 hour scenic cruise across the channel, where you will be on the lookout for dolphins, pilot whales, and false killer whales.

Once we arrive to Ni’ihau Island, we head over to Lehua Crater, an extinct tuff cone volcano and seabird sanctuary that is home to 16 different species of seabirds. If conditions permit, we will dive Vertical Awareness – a pinnacle that runs from 300 ft at the bottom to 45 at the top! In between dives lunch will be served along with a tour of Lehua Crater. Our second dive is usually a wall dive (if there is current, you will drift) filled with beautiful schools of fish, sharks, and seals!

The ride back to Kauai Island is about 1.5 hours, depending on conditions.

Reserving this bucket list dive is your ticket to exploring an ancient Hawaiian island and an opportunity to witness the endangered sea life still abundant in its desolate waters.
